Looking for New or Recently New Players – Low-Magic Campaign (Questionnaire at the bottom) Hello adventurers! I’m seeking players for a D&D 5th Edition campaign tailored for new or recently new players. Whether you’re just starting or have only dipped your toes into roleplaying, this table is a great place to learn and grow. Below are a few key points about the game: For New Players: This campaign is perfect for beginners or those who are still learning the ropes of D&D. I’m an experienced GM across various systems, but I’m still learning 5th Edition myself, so we’ll explore it together! Mature Themes Warning (No Sexual Content): While the game will avoid sexual themes, it may contain mature situations and content that are more suitable for an adult audience. This game is for players who are comfortable with complex or intense storytelling. Christian GM – Open to All Walks of Life, with Christian Themes and Moral Challenges: I’m a Christian Game Master, and while I welcome players from any belief system, please note that Christian themes may be woven into the story arcs, world-building, and character development. These themes might appear in both positive and challenging contexts, depending on the storyline. The world will also feature clear forces of good and evil, and characters may find themselves wrestling with these forces in various ways. While the party will generally be “good-aligned” and focused on moral decisions, players will still face difficult dilemmas where both good and bad choices are part of the narrative. Time Zone & Schedule: We’ll be playing in the Central USA time zone. The primary gaming days are Fridays and Saturdays, with a possibility of Wednesdays or Thursdays if enough players can commit to longer sessions. Discord Audio Required: You’ll need a stable internet connection and Discord for audio communication during gameplay. Pre-Screening Process: A short pre-screening form will be required to help me select a well-balanced and dynamic party before we jump into character creation during Session 0. Fully detailing and fleshing out your answers is essential to this process. The more thorough your responses, the better I can understand your play style, preferences, and how you might fit into the group dynamic. Platform & Campaign Style: The game will be run on Roll20, and the campaign will span from level 0 to 10. It’s a low-magic setting, meaning magic isn’t everywhere. Some places may have no magic, while others could be medium to high magic, but overall, expect a more grounded, historical-feeling world. Historical Aesthetic: Expect gear, armor, and setting elements that resemble historical time periods, rather than the flashy high-fantasy look. This includes costumes, weapons, and architecture that reflect a more realistic world. Session Length: Sessions will last a minimum of 4 hours and can go up to 8 hours, so make sure you’re ready for some long and immersive gameplay! Fun and Connection: Above all else, Dungeons & Dragons is about having fun, creating new stories, and building connections with others. Fostering a collaborative and enjoyable experience for everyone is my top priority, and I’m excited to embark on this journey with a new group of adventurers. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Campaign Synopsis (Pick Your Path) The Eikstríð: A Tale of Adventure, Betrayal, and Destiny As the icy winds of winter howl through the rugged expanse of the Lurkwood, three distinct factions converge upon its ancient and shadowy depths, each drawn by their own ambitions and desires. At the heart of this tangled web of intrigue and conflict lie the descendants of Illuskan explorers known as "The Rus," led by the indomitable Captain Mikhail. With their longships slicing through frigid waters and axes gleaming with a promise of conquest, they sail forth from distant shores, yearning to carve out a new legacy in the untamed wilderness, heedless of the perils that slumber beneath the forest’s dense canopy. Nestled within the protective embrace of the towering trees, a coalition of small, walled communities stands vigil against the impending tide. Their palisade walls bristle with a mix of anticipation and dread, for the wise elders and seasoned warriors who lead them are resolute in their commitment to defend their ancestral homes. Their spirits are as unyielding as the ancient oaks surrounding them, ready to clash with any who dare threaten their way of life. Yet, as the whispers of war and the clash of steel loom ever closer, a more enigmatic figure stirs on the horizon – the formidable war baron, his stone keep a grim sentinel against encroaching darkness. With a loyal militia and the wealth of lucrative mines at his command, he sees the arrival of "The Rus" as a golden opportunity to expand his dominion and extinguish his rivals once and for all. As the first snowflakes begin to fall, blanketing the Lurkwood in a veil of white, the stage is set for a conflict of epic proportions. Alliances will be forged in the fires of necessity, while treachery lurks in the hearts of the ambitious. The fate of the land hangs precariously in the balance, suspended between the hopes of the brave and the schemes of the cunning. Deep within the heart of the Lurkwood, where swirling mists entwine with tangled undergrowth, the seeds of war have taken root. Only the bravest and most resourceful heroes dare to tread these ancient paths. Here, amidst a landscape rich with forgotten legends and whispered secrets, the saga of "The Eikstríð" unfolds – a tale of bold adventures, complex betrayals, and the indomitable quest for destiny. In this land of ancient magic and historical gravitas, the fate of nations will be determined by the valor of a chosen few. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As the stage of "The Eikstríð" unfolds, you stand at a crossroads, with three distinct paths laid before you—each beckoning with the promise of adventure, challenge, and destiny. Choose wisely, for the fate of the Lurkwood hangs in the balance. 1. Set sail on a daring saga with 'The Rus,' the indomitable descendants of Illuskan warriors. Brave the tempestuous seas and shadowed realms of the Lurkwood as you carve out a new stronghold amidst untamed wilderness. Joining this stalwart band of mercenaries, you will relish the thrill of exploration and conquest, forging alliances and seizing ancient riches. Yet, be wary of the local clans' watchful gaze and the looming threat of rival factions. Risk your life and honor for the promise of glory and plunder! Enlisted at the bustling port of Luskan under the banners of the five 'Noble Ship' clans, the path is clear—set sail in ten days. Heed the commands of your ship’s lords, or face the halls of Tempus and the embrace of Valkur. Remember these first edicts, for they hold the key to triumph in the unforgiving wilderness! 2. Take up arms to defend the walled communities of the Lurkwood against the encroaching threat of "The Rus." As a guardian of these tight-knit settlements, you will experience the camaraderie and solidarity of community life, rallying together to protect your homes and way of life. Yet, face the challenges of limited resources and isolation, as well as the moral quandaries of war and its consequences on the innocent. As a trusted free man, you might farm, mine, forage, hunt, or defend the sturdy walls of these secretive communities. Bards' songs resonate from neighboring villages along the Blackford Road, weaving tales of a mighty seafaring nation poised to embark on a journey eastward. Countless peoples and armies have ventured into these forests, establishing colonies and leaving behind their ruins, which now haunt the deepest corners. This fate may befall your community if you fail to respect the forests and their inhabitants. 3. Pledge your loyalty to the enigmatic war baron, seizing the opportunity to expand your influence and power within the untamed depths of the Lurkwood. As a devoted servant of the baron, bask in the privileges of wealth and prestige, commanding troops and exploiting the region's abundant resources. Yet, tread carefully through the intricate web of court politics, navigating the treacherous waters of betrayal and reprisal from both foes and supposed allies alike. This seasoned leader stands as a formidable figure, surrounded by trusted fighters and advisors forged in battle. Neutral in nature but lawful in demeanor, he commands a loyal following of warriors, cultivated over decades of conflict. With his vast wealth, he has erected a stronghold in the heart of the wilderness—a testament to his dominance. Those who catch his discerning eye may find themselves embroiled in secret missions and clandestine endeavors, for the baron possesses a keen eye for talent and potential. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pre-Screen Questionnaire (Please, fill this out in full and in its entirety for serious consideration - thanks!)--DM me with your name & completed form! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please answer the following questions to help ensure a great fit for the group dynamic.
